Hello early readers!
Thanks to recent reminder (cough. Tim. cough. cough), I realized it has been awhile since I have posted any updates here and that would probably be a nice thing to do for people who have been following along with the story.
Chapter 22 is the last that I posted. It saw Tish'ri riding to the border to discover the eastern wall collapsing as some kind of blight spread westward. I published this chapter in early September. What happened since then?
Well, the writing has continued! Beginning in mid-september I began prep work for NaNoWriMo (National November Writing Month). It's a competition that happens every year where writer's commit to writing 50k words in the month of November. My goal was to use this competition as a way to finish the book.
With that in mind, I shifted effort away from editing and publishing, working on getting my daily word count up to where it would need to be for the competition. Over the remainder of September and October, I added 20k words to the draft. That's about ten chapters.
I started strong in the first few days of November, with over 5k words in the first two days. I have been able to maintain my pace since then, landing me at over 35k words written so far this month. At around the 20k words mark, I reached the ending of the book! I threw myself a small celebration and then dove back in, still needing to add another 30k words in order to hit my goal. I decided to use these words to start on book 2.
So, all that to say, the book is done! BUT, it is in a very rough state. After November, I will go back through and begin publishing chapters again.
Thank you all for your patience and your excitement to read the story! I look forward to sharing the rest of Sh'ra's adventure with you!
